Allendorf (Eder), Dec 15, 2022 – To support generations to come who are in urgent need of help this Christmas, the Viessmann Foundation is donating a total of five million euros. More than half of the money goes to aid projects that support children and families in and from Ukraine in their time of need. Two million euros will be donated by the Viessmann national companies to local donation projects of their own choice, with the aim of creating living spaces for generations to come.

"The situation in Ukraine affects us all," says Maximilian Viessmann, CEO of the Viessmann Group. "As a family business with family members in and from Ukraine, we are sending a clear signal of social responsibility to those who need our help and solidarity most urgently this winter. Therefore, the majority of our historic donation of a total of five million euros via the Viessmann Foundation supports children and families in and from Ukraine, who particularly suffer from the consequences of this cruel war during the cold season."

Two million euros will be donated in the first quarter of 2023 to three major organizations focused on families in need from Ukraine and on building infrastructure and enabling local schooling in these difficult times.

The following projects are supported:

  • Aktion Deutschland hilft – The "Donating heat" project helps people in Ukraine to winter-proof their homes. The project also provides generators and power stations to generate electricity.
  • Unicef – Access to continuous learning for children in Ukraine with home learning kits.
  • Save the Children – Children’s Emergency Fund for worldwide support and Ukraine Emergency Aid in Germany.

A further two million euros will be distributed to the national companies of the Viessmann Group according to the number of employees. Each country receives at least 2500 euros to support local organizations. The managing directors of the national companies, together with their teams, can support local charitable organizations or initiatives with the approved donations to give something back to the local community. The Viessmann Foundation's mission statement serves as the basis for selecting donation projects: "Shaping sustainable living spaces for future generations together – with everything we do." This ensures that only initiatives that are in line with the mission statement benefit from the donation.

The majority of the remaining one million euros was already donated by Viessmann employees and the company in spring to support Ukrainian families affected by the war. The donations went to local initiatives that supported Ukrainians as they left their country, as well as to organizations for integration assistance and reconstruction. The remaining amount is reserved for further reconstruction aid in Ukraine.
